Artist Statement
The Red Siskin used to be seen flying around in flocks in Venezuela, but it's decline has brought it to be critically endangered. Due to habitat loss and being prized in the illegal pet trade for it's brilliant red colour has meant that it was captured and sold. Although it's decline has been drastic, the recognition of its low numbers has meant that more initiatives are being put in place to restore populations of this fantastic little bird.
