Artist Statement
Orange-bellied Antwren/Alagoas Antwren (Terenura sicki) is a critically endangered species endemic to the highlands of northeast Brazil. I’ve included both the male and female (the female has rich orange-rufous underparts) in my painting. Thanks to SAVE Brasil, the international affiliate of BirdLife International and to photographer, Ciro Albano for his reference photographs.
