Artist Statement
This robin-like bird is found exclusively in the high altitude grasslands on the hills of southern India. They live on the forest floor in undergrowth, feeding on caterpillars and other insects. Their nests are large shallow cup-like structures made of mosses and roots. Their breeding range is small and the numbers of suitable sites are declining due to habitat loss caused by human incursion, livestock grazing, and lumber harvesting of the forest.
