Artist Statement

My trip to the Galapagos Islands a few years ago was one of the highlights of my life. One of the islands I visited was Isabella. This is the home of the endangered mangrove finch. This little finch, so dull and plain compared to so many other birds that display bright, dramatic colors and designs, plays an equally important role in the Galapagos ecosystem as other birds play in theirs. It's continued existence is so important to the balance of nature in the Galapagos Islands and I don't want it to be forgotten.
