Artist Statement
This critically endangered species is known from Java and Bali, and formerly and from Lampung province in east Sumatra, Indonesia.has nearly completely disappeared from the wild within the past few decades. Much of the population decline is believed to be due to to trapping for the cage bird trade. Any remaining wild population is estimated to be very small, perhaps less than 50.
