Artist Statement
"The Golden-naped weaver is known to be found in a small part of the Ituri Forest in the northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It had not been seen since 1926, until it was once again encountered several times in 1986. No recent sightings have been officially reported. Habitat loss for agriculture has been a primary cause for this weavers declining numbers. Population estimates today range between 250 to 900 individuals."
