Artist Statement

My heart was all but broken when my research let me to learn that this little bird is critically endangered; at the time of writing, their population is estimated to have fewer than 250 individuals. I hope that the beauty of this fiery gem of the hummingbird world will help ignite a passion to help in those that see it, for it has a very uncertain future.
