Artist Statement
The Forbes Blackbird has a small and very fragmented range in eastern and northeastern Brazil. It lives in the edges of forest near marshy areas. Much of its habitat has been converted to sugarcane fields, where some populations are able to survive. It is threatened by habitat destruction and also by parasitism by the Shiny Cowbird.
