Artist Statement
The Dwarf Ibis is a critically endangered species with less than 100 individuals accounted for in the wild. The Dwarf Ibis's principle range is in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western coast of Central Africa. Dwarf Ibis are typically found in lowland swampy areas, usually alone or in small flocks. These birds feed on invertebrates, probing along with their long curved bill. It is very concerning that it has been years since a nest has been found. Still, there are no substantive conservation measures in place. It is quite possible this unique bird could soon disappear forever.
