Artist Statement

The Djibouti Francolin is found only in the country of Djibouti in the Horn of Africa. Its natural habitat is high altitude tropical dry juniper forests, but the juniper forests are dying due in part to climate change. The Djibouti Francolin population has decreased by 90 percent in 20 years, but efforts have been made to restore the forests and promotional campaigns in local schools have raised awareness of this species.
