Artist Statement

While looking for another bird to paint to help finish the mural, I came across the Cone-billed Tanager that had only been know from a specimen collected in 1938. Over 60 years later, it was discovered again.....almost like it came back from extinction. It was located in 2003 in the Mato Grosso area and is still considered endangered. William Price gave me permission to use his photos.
