Cape Vulture, Cape Griffon

Family: ACCIPITRIDAE | Conservation Status: Endangered | Population Trend: decreasing
Artist Statement
I chose a Cape Vulture because I wanted to call attention to the struggles of old world vultures. These birds are in serious decline due to excessive poisoning of wildlife which then affects predators and carrion-dependent species. The vultures also face threats from human expansion including electrocution from high-voltage power lines.
