Artist Statement

Once common in the region, the Black-hooded Coucal is endemic to the island of Mindoro in the Philippines. The rapidly declining population of this critically endangered species is thought to number only 75 to 400 individuals which are restricted to the small amount of lowland forest that remains intact on the island.
