Artist Statement

Without a doubt the Araripe Manakin was one of the most challenging images I have painted. First the Habitat with its various shades of green. Then add the Manakin’s bulbous body, bold colors of red, darks with blue mixed with red and white with reflective colors it was no easy task. It would be a thrill to see it in the wild.
