Artists for Conservation's mission and programs are at a nexus of art and science, driving qualitative and experiencial study of the natural world and inspiring others to protect wildlife and wild places.
Since 2004 AFC has been supporting exploration of remote ecologically important locations and the artistic representation of species deserving of more attention, with its Flag Expeditions Program. In 2012, AFC launched its Marine Explorers Program, in partnership with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, to encourage greater artistic representation of marine life in art, through scuba diving and snorkeling trips for artists. In 2018, AFC partnered with Jackson's African Safaris to offer custom-tailored small-group safari expeditions for artists and photographers
In 2023 - AFC's 25th anniversary year - AFC has launched its most exciting exploration program yet - the AFC Expeditions Program. AFC Expeditions are produced through leading travel industry partners, with custom curated itineraries that bring artists and travellers interested in art and nature, together in large group trips. Now, following our inaugural trip - Alaska Nature & Art Cruise, we're thrilled to offer more opportunities to get artists, friends, supporters, family and all interested parties to more of Nature's most ecologically important and interesting areas. Taking part in an AFC Expedition Program trip, has several benefits, including:
- Significantly discounted group rate.
- Special nature and art-focused program.
- Camaraderie and pleasure of travelling with a group of like-minded people.
- Knowledge you are supporting the arts and conservation.
We aim to make all trips in this program enjoyable accessible to a wide range of mobility/ages and either build in a carbon-neutrality into the cost, or encourage participants to collectively contribute to offsetting the footprint of our trip.
