2019 Exhibit Award Winners

Vancouver, BC CANADA - July 12, 2019 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) is pleased to announce the award winners of the twelfth annual AFC International Exhibit of Nature in Art to be held this September 26 - 29 in Vancouver, BC. The awards include five AFC Medals of Excellence, which recognizes at least five outstanding artworks in the exhibit, an Environmental Statement Award, and Interpretive/Abstract Award. AFC also presents two Best in Show awards, in recognition of the highest scoring painting and sculpture by the jury panel in the annual exhibit.

Artists receiving the awards are as follows:

Best in Show, Painting

  • Stephen Jesic for his painting, “Morning Reflections”

Best in Show, Sculpture

  • Rosetta for her sculpture, “Balancing Act”

Medals of Excellence

  • Michael Dumas for his painting, “Mid Day Sun”
  • Stephen Jesic for his painting, “Morning Reflections”
  • Bruce Lawes for his painting, “Your Highness”
  • Bruce Lawes for his painting, “In the Shadow of Greatness”
  • Rosetta for her sculpture, “Balancing Act”
  • Cathy Weiss for her painting, “Orphans at Play”

Environmental Statement Award

  • “Survivor” by Serena Bates

Interpretive/Abstract Award (NEW)

  • “Coming Home” by Chris Maynard

The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Award, Arabella Magazine Editor's Choice and Western Art Collector Magazine Editor's Choice awards will be announced at a later date.

Artists attending the 2019 Festival will receive their awards at the Exhibit opening on September 26 in Vancouver, BC.
