Artists for Conservation Festival Returns to Vancouver, British Columbia for 2013

Vancouver, BC., CANADA - February 15, 2013 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) is pleased to announce, following the success of its second AFC Festival in October 2012, that the signature event will return to Vancouver in 2013. The 3rd AFC festival will take place from September 28 through October 6th, at Grouse Mountain Resort in North Vancouver, BC. Most significantly, the event returns at an earlier date, during peak season, when weather is more likely to show off the natural spectacle of the venue. A special ticketed preview, celebration and fundraising event is planned for September 27, the evening prior to the public opening.

The festival program will continue its focus on art and environmental education that benefits conservation. The centerpiece of the event is the international juried AFC annual exhibit - the world's top conservation-themed art show - featuring approximately 80 original paintings and sculptures by master artists from around the world. The event provides a rare opportunity for visitors to meet many of the master artists from around the globe, including Africa, Australia and Europe, and North America.
The 2nd Festival featured 80 exhibiting artists, 40 of whom attended, including festival patron Robert Bateman and special award recipient, Pollyanna Pickering, one of UK's top nature artists.

AFC President, Jeff Whiting adds: "Once again in 2012 we were warmly welcomed by Grouse Mountain, excited festival visitors, engaged youth and we received generous support from the broader community. We also had a spectacular turnout and tremendous support from our exhibiting artists, 40 whom attended the event, and provided programming. We will continue building on our achievements and are thrilled to be returning for the third year. The festival provides a perfect venue to gather our talented pool of artists in effort to raise awareness and support for conservation."

The Festival will again feature AFC's annual exhibit - the world's top conservation-themed art show, meet-the-artists event, a lecture series, art and conservation themed film screenings, workshops for adults and youth/students, gallery tours, live artistic demonstrations, ticketed events and cultural performances. AFC will premiere its next documentary film during the festival. The film this year will focus on marine conservation. Programming details will follow.
