Today's Artists For Conservation (AFC) Festival Opening at Grouse Mountain brought out young and old and everyone in-between to learn about the importance of nature through art. Some of the finest nature and wildlife artists from around the world were doing painting demonstrations in the Chalet and interacting with the several hundred visitors. Dr. Guy Harvey, Robert Bateman, Stephen Quinn and David Kitler gave lectures in the Theatre in the Sky; kids had their faces painted and some even teamed up with musician Michael Averill on the background entertainment; others got a close-up...
Vancouver, BC - CANADA - September 17, 2012 - Artists for Conservation (AFC) is pleased to announce recipients of the "Adventures in Art & Environment" school workshop contest. For the second year, as part of the Artists for Conservation Festival, AFC is offering a unique program connecting youth with nature through art, and introducing them to some of today's leading international artists who are dedicated to wildlife and habitat conservation. Contest entrants explained why they felt their particular class merited having their admission costs covered for the AFC school program....
Today is the big day. The festival kicks off with the opening ceremonies, awards, and a First Nations performance at 10 am, closely followed by keynote presentations by Robert Bateman and Guy Harvey. We are also thrilled to host the premiere screening of "How an Artist Saved the Mountain Gorilla."
