Renso Tamse New Book - Wild in Europe

Dutch artist Renso Tamse is a young master of realistic style of watercolor. This book is a collection of paintings and sketches of wildlife encountered during his travels in Europe. Showing an impressive ammount of 70 paintings and 90 drawings and studies. He tells about used materials, his inspiration and his adventures. Species covered include birds and mammals, from mute swan to brown bear and from birds of pray to ermines, all within their secretive haunts.

Mike Hughes Wins AFC Peoples Choice Award

We are pleased to announce that the winner of AFC's first 'People's Choice' award, worth $500, is going to Mike Hughes of Great Britain, for 'In the Shade of an Olive' - a pencil portrayal of a pair of Hoopoes.

American Artist Retraces Footsteps of Heroic Explorer to Study Endangered Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda

Artists for Conservation (AFC), is pleased to announce that Stephen Quinn, AFC Signature Member will be departing on Nov 21, 2010 for his an expedition to the jungles of central Africa. He is the eleventh recipient of Flag Expedition fellowship involving a grant of $5,000 US, plus additional support from the Houston Zoo and the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH).

AFC Makes Waves at Buckhorn Festival

AFC President, Jeff Whiting is attending the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival, near Peterborough, Ontario, to talk to visitors about AFC programs and promote the group's mission of supporting the environment through nature-inspired art. He is scheduled to give two lectures.

Also exhibiting at the event are no less than 15 AFC members, including Robert Bateman and Michael Dumas - featured in a dramatic Canadian Masters Exhibit - and Kelly Dodge who gave an exciting lecture and slide presentation to a capacity crowd about her recent AFC Flag Expedition to the Galapagos.

AFC Members Receive SKB Foundation Scholarships

Ten AFC members have been awarded scholarships to the Susan Kathleen Black Foundation's 9th Annual Workshop, Sep 15-20, 2010 Dubois, WY. The lead instructors for this year are Soon Y Warren (a finalist in our first Blossom~ Art of Flowers competition), and Gil Dellinger, both well-known multi-medium instructors who are just as comfortable doing plein air as they are studio. A number of past instructors will also be on hand.

Wildscape Magazine Features AFC Exhibit

As we prepare for our 2nd Annual The Art of Conservation exhibition at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum, we were pleased to see an article written by one of our members - Lorna Hamilton, which was published in the last issue of Wildscape magazine of the UK. Lorna's Golden Eagles graced the cover of our companion book and she came over from Ireland to be part of our inaugural show and celebratory weekend.
