Living Amongst Giants - Save Them
At Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana, I had the opportunity to use an underground photographic hide located beside a waterhole in an area renowned for its elephant population. The unique design of the hide allowed viewers to observe wildlife at ground level, offering an exceptional vantage point for photography and observation.
The waterhole attracted a variety of animals, including kudu, impala, and baboons. Despite the diversity of wildlife, elephants were undeniably the main attraction. Throughout my stay, I visited the hide on three occasions, each time witnessing the remarkable presence of these magnificent creatures.
While spending time in the hide, I took thousands of photographs and closely observed the dynamics within elephant families. The playful nature of the baby elephants was particularly captivating, and it fascinated me how protective the elephant families were of their young. The artwork presented here is inspired by a photo I captured during one of these memorable photography sessions.
This artwork is one of seven in my “Save Them” series.
