When I arrived at the chimp exhibit at Taronga Zoo in Sydney, it was time for their lunch. Excited chimps were darting all over the place in anticipation of their food. All eyes were on these chimps, but I noticed one who waited patiently, studying his hand, engrossed by the present moment and unperturbed by all the antics around him.  Wild Chimpanzees and other great apes are losing their forest homes from the mining of coltan - a mineral used in all our smartphones. We can all play a role in protecting vital habitats by recycling our mobile phones.
