Snuggle In
When I lived in England, the most exciting thing for me before moving to Australia at the age of eight was receiving my nanas home-sewn koala toys. So dear to my heart, they brought me hours of joy and an ever-evolving appreciation of all animals, especially wildlife. I based this artwork on a photo that I snapped at Taronga zoo. I was lucky to witness the mother koala cradling her baby and keeping it safe. But who knows how safe koalas will be in the future, now that they are losing their lives in more intense and frequent fires caused by human-induced climate change as well as urban sprawl and deforestation.
100% of proceeds from the sale of the original artwork has been donated to “100 Artworks for a Koala - Konservation Project" through non-profit organization Living With Koalas. A further 10% will go to the Australian Koala Foundation from the sale of just one limited edition at my solo art exhibition in April, 2022.
