The Silent Predator
Sharks are one of the most misunderstood animals and are feared instead of being respected for the crucial role they play in balancing the ocean’s delicate ecosystem.
Sharks are apex predators at the top of the food chain, controlling populations of their prey.
While sharks are apex predators, there is one ferocious predator that sharks cannot escape, and that is …humans. A staggering one hundred million sharks are killed worldwide every year through the abhorrent practice of shark fining, industrial-scale overfishing, plastic pollution, and climate change that is causing sea temperatures to rise, making some habitats unliveable to the sharks and their prey.
The more educated we can become, the more revered these majestic and graceful species will have a chance of survival. Without sharks, the ocean’s ecosystem would collapse.
