Sadly, gorillas are disappearing fast caused by habitat destruction, poaching, civil war and disease. I felt the pull of my pencils and paints as a matter of urgency which compelled me to draw a portrait of this peaceful, intelligent and gentle species.

Hopefully, through enough education and community involvement, we may be able to save them. Through inspiring an understanding of the animals and educating local communities, conservation will be more successful.
