I had taken many reference photos from my visit to the Australian Wildlife Park in New South Wales, but I had to take just one more. This sleepy koala captivated and enchanted me with his engaging one-eyed stare. This was my inspiration for this piece in scratchboard.

The Koala habitat is disappearing at an alarming rate. Australia has one of the highest land-clearing rates in the world.
