Save Elephant Foundation rescues and cares for Thailand's captive elephant population. When I saw a reference photo of the sweetest baby elephant WanMai, I knew she was the one I had to paint. It was an honour to create. 

WanMai was born on 2nd May 2020 in pitifully destitute conditions at a trekking camp without enough space to be cared for by her mother kept on a short chain. WanMai was the first baby elephant rescued during the Covid pandemic at only five weeks old. WanMai and her mother MaeMai are treated with nothing but love and kindness by the caring staff in their new sanctuary and have settled into a new family with other rescued elephants.

I deeply respect conservationists like Lek, who go above and beyond to make a difference to save wildlife and give captive animals a better life. I feel inspired to create and share my art because of them.
