Facebook Art Auction for Australia's Bushfire Emergency 2020

The spring of 2019 and the summer of 2020 were the most catastrophic in Australia's history for bushfires and the consequent loss of a staggering 480 million animals and 18.6 million hectares of habitat. Unable to sit still, I took it upon myself to set up an online Facebook silent auction of my original artwork in coloured pencil on paper titled Afternoon Snooze to raise funds for the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital in NSW.

Wildlife carers needed urgent funds to care for the remaining injured koalas in Australia's horrific bushfire emergency. The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital is an adjunct of Koala Conservation Australia Limited.  The sale of the artwork raised $400.

As an aside, I deeply respect all the scientists, environmentalists, researchers, rangers and volunteers who go above and beyond to make a difference. In many cases, they risk their lives to save wildlife and their habitats. I feel inspired to create and share my art because of them.
