My inspiration for this painting was to capture the beautiful soul of these magnificent animals and to show that they live in solitude, hence, the reason for my title “Soulitude.” Tigers mainly live in solitude because they are highly independent and territorial. They mark their own space and want to occupy it all by themselves. It’s also easier for them to hunt that way. They rarely break their solitude and would only do so to mate or hunt larger animals.
Sumatran tigers are critically endangered. There are only an estimated 250-400 left in the wild. We must do everything we can to save them before they become extinct. Overall, there are more tiger species in captivity in the United States of America than there are in the wild. I hope my art inspires respect and appreciation for these beautiful animals who belong in the wild.
