While visiting Hiko-san Sacred Mountain in Kyushu Japan I was able observe and study this summer pair visitor at their nest. Although the male looses his tail after the end of breeding season for the return trip south, I was amazed how he blended with the long vines where the nest was placed as he guarded the brooding female.
