I was very privileged to use this unique reference photo for this Black & white painting.
Tshokwane was one of the tuskers in the Kruger national park in the 1990's. He was renowned to have an aversion towards people & be a bit aggresive. Wildlife photographer Daryl Balfour had the dubious task of photographing this bull elephant for a coffee table book that was to be published. After a few good images Tshokwane turned on Daryl & charged him. Daryl survived the attack but spent months in hospital recovering.
