The green heron is as widespread across the United States as the great blue heron but always seems to get overshadowd by his big brother - and that's a shame.  He may not be as big or exotic, but he certainly is more colorful if you catch him in the right sunlight.  This painting was an attempt to do just that. Adding the rainbow darters was to highlight the colorful effect.
