One of my earllier work, my intention was to paint this montain lion near life-size, bringing the lion into the room with the viewer and letting the viewer share the hunt with the cougar. The turkey feather and early morning ambiance serves as a hint, turning the painting into a story telling image. I traveled to a certain section of Missouri, the Castor River Shut-ins, to gather the necessary reference photos to place this lion back into the habitat it once roamed.
