Red-billed Tropicbirds
These dazzling birds feed well out at sea, but on South Plaza Island they often display in social groups of up to a dozen. I watched them as they flew back and forth along the cliffs, making wide circles, their coral orangey red bills contrasting against the complimentary pure blue of the sky. How exciting it was to root for them as they evaded frigatebirds intent on pulling out their long white tail streamers.
