Lion King (Southern Hemisphere - Northwest in June)
Breathtaking views of the night sky are a typical feature of clear nights in African wilderness areas. Featured here, front and centre, is 'Leo the Lion' as seen on my recent travels to Kenya.
Other constellations visible from left to right are a portion of Hydra, Cancer, Leo, Leo Minor, a portion of Ursa Major, Coma Berenices, Canes Venatici and a portion of Bootes. The two brightest stars to dominate the Northwest winter sky in June are Arcturus in Bootes and Regulus in Leo.
