AFC releases Ltd. Ed. Dodge Flag Expedition Journal. (2010)

Kelly Dodge's Exclusive AFC Galapagos Flag Expedition Journal has been reproduced as a limited edition coffee table book and is now available for viewing and purchase.

One of the AFC objectives an Artists for Conservation Expedition Artist is privileged to partake in is to keep a combination sketch/diary expedition flag journal.  As the recipient of the 10th Artists for Conservation Foundation fellowship, Kelly traveled to the Galapagos Islands in the fall of 2009. While on her expedition, she spent 40 days researching, sketching and photographing the threatened habitats and rare and endangered species in this remote region of the world.   Those endeavors have culminated in a large body of work which was unveiled for the first time in its entirety, at The Lindsay Gallery, in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada.

The original journal, painstakingly kept by Kelly during her expedition, was carefully displayed in an acrylic case however as an added enhancement, guests had the opportunity to peruse and purchase the recently released deluxe leather-bound limited edition journal, of just 100 copies.  Published by the AFC, these collector items are of exceptional quality, and reproduce Kelly's journal in its entirety.  Each book measures approximately 15" x 11 1/2" horizontal - large enough to display a full colour two-page spread of the journal on each page at nearly full-size.  It has a windowed black leather cover, and is printed on ultra-heavy paper stock.

She says, "I believe that the experience of filling a journal with 200 pages of sketches and personal insights has enriched the resulting finished studio paintings in a way that gives them increased depth and meaning."

Purchasers of the journal will not only treasure this unique record of Kelly's Flag Expedition, but at the same time will be supporting the AFC Foundation and future Flag Expeditions.  The book retails for $395.00 (USD) plus shipping and handling.  A portion of the proceeds goes directly to support and promote the Artists for Conservation Foundation, a non-profit organization, and can be ordered by contacting the AFC directly at info@natureartists.com.
