Chinatown
When l saw this wall with all the bird activity and the amazing textures of wood and brick, it was begging to be painted. This wall was originally part of another building which when torn down exposed it and its many repairs to the world. l loved all the different colors the hollow blocks came in and that beam with over 130 rings in it came from some old growth grove of the past. Of course the addition of nesting birds was the perfect completion of the story. The title "Chinatown" comes from the fact that the little splatters of roof tar across the patterns in the bricks looked to me like Chinese calligraphy. Of course the story of immigration and lives trying to survive in whatever niche they can find is part of the story too, and so it is with the introduced "English (House) Sparrow who have found a way to fit in and thrive in every corner of our country. This painting is marked NFS because it was destroyed in a studio fire. lt lives on here for your enjoyment.
