Does a zoo born cat have the memories of it's ancestors? Does it dream of the colors in an African sunset or the patterns that the native peoples wore? Does it run free after gazelle, flush the flocks of Quelea or remember the smells of elephant and giraffe? l would hope so but at the same time there could be an inner longing for these things that would be sad.
