It is with great excitement that I announce that my TV Art Documentary, produced by Put Some Colour in Your Life, will be heading to the moon with SpaceX and NASA on their mission in 2024, to lie in perpetuity for future generations in a time capsule!
I am especially thrilled as my episode highlighted the plight of the rhino and gave me a platform to draw attention to our endangered species and the fragility of the environment on planet earth.
CIYL CEO Graeme Stevenson asked me if I could recreate the image of a painting which I had previously done titled ‘Tears of the rhino’, for the show.
The original painting was created especially for World Rhino Day 2012 and was exhibited in South Africa. The confronting image of a rhino crying tears of blood, although harsh, conveys the message I wanted to portray.
The original painting continues to be the face of the @Besureis.com One. Fight. Unite. poster awareness campaign for endangered species, launched in London, UK.
‘Tears of the rhino’ has found its own voice and will be on the moon for future generations waiting to be discovered by travellers and space explorers.
Never in my wildest dreams did I think this could happen in my life and I am over the moon!

AUSTRALIAN TV SERIES ROCKETS TO THE MOON WITH SPACEX AND NASA
Art TV show, Put Some Colour in Your Life, received the exciting news that all 22 seasons of their TV art documentaries will be included in the Lunar Codex or “the Museum on the Moon”, rocketed via the Astrobotic Griffin / NASA VIPER ROVER / SpaceX Falcon Heavy mission headed to the Lunar South Pole due to land in 2024.
"The Lunar Codex -- www.lunarcodex.com- is a project to preserve contemporary creative arts for future generations, a message-in-a-bottle to the future," explained Dr. Samuel Peralta, creator of the enterprise. "It is sending the work of 5000+ creative artists to the Moon in three lunar exhibits / time capsules to be launched via three separate missions to the Moon over 2022-2024."
Colour in Your Life will be joining the Polaris Collection, on the third mission, and is mentioned in the Peregrine collection in the first mission. Polaris data will be on nickel-shielded memory cards. The Colour in Your Life archive will join other short and full-length films already included in the time capsule, including several feature films and short films, documentaries, and an Emmy Award winning film.
"Our hope is that future travellers who find these time capsules will discover some of the richness of our world today," Dr. Samuel Peralta said. "The Lunar Codex speaks to the idea that, despite wars, pandemics and climate upheaval, humankind found time to dream, time to create art." https://www.lunarcodex.com/
