Radiant Presence
Bighorn sheep live in the mountains of western North America. The male animals have stately horns, which grow circular and are used in duels between rivals, when the animals collide with their heads.
During the summer time it is more quiet and so I could observe some bucks grazing in Banff National Park. The bright warm hues of the horn compliment beautifully with the blue tones of the mountain ranges in the hazy distance.
This painting is my first work in oils and I am quite happy with my first steps in this new medium. During my time as an artist in residence at the Blauvelt Art Museum, I will continue to immerse myself in this high quality painting technique.
