Golden Girl
The Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is like an avian king - majestic and so graceful in it’s apparition. I wanted to portrait the sheer beauty of the animal and decided it would be perfect to do the portraiture of the bird in a special medium.
The scratchboard technique allows a very detailed work of black and white pictures. A scratchboard is of a wooden panel covered with a basic clay layer and the surface is stained with black Indian ink. White lines were generated by scratching the surface and the remove of the ink coat.
