The Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) is a rare but regularly breeding bird here in the region of Western Switzerland. Yellow buoys are marking the nature recreation zone where the birds are nesting. Normally the common tern uses pebble beaches as breeding ground. But these naturally disturbed wild-waterfronts have become seldom, because of human activity and destruction of natural environment. These days wooden platforms standing in the shallow water were built to help the birds with nesting spots. It is wonderful to see the terns returning every year.
