Sedona Colors is literally the description for this painting. While visiting Sedona, Arizona, we were at a gallery in an outdoor sculpture garden visiting with the owners when I turned around and saw this tiny little bird sitting on a huge rock. I always have my camera with me so I proceeded to photograph him until he got bored and flew away. To my surprise, when I looked at the photos, the background was blurred and the incredible colors of all the flowers that were behind the bird had become a watercolor of running, vibrant, hues. I felt the photograph was a work of art in itself but determined it had to be painted in watercolors to achieve that same effect. This baby Phoebe has become one of my favorite pieces because everyone that sees it smiles.
Sedona Colors was accepted to the virtual exhibit for AFC in 2017.
