I was walking in the nearby hills when I noticed a rustling in the tall grass on the left side of the trail. It was a young deer. It seemed a bit concerned to discover that there were humans on the trail. Then from the right side of the trail, just in front of me, out stepped a female adult. The baby ran frantically to its mom and she allowed just a brief moment of comfort before ushering her child on to the safety and cover of the tall grass.
