Watching this female mountain lion one day at the Desert Museum in Tucson, I couldn't help but wonder if she was contemplating not only her future, but how in the world she came to be there.  In researching trapping large game in the western USA I was stunned to find out that Arizona is one of 7 states that still allows the use of leg hold traps. If you don't know what they are or how they work or what happens to the animal if caught in one, research it for your own edification. You may be stunned, too, that this barbarous method of "catching" big cats and big game is still allowed in the Wild West. And in countries to the north and south of the US.
