Back Off
Having survived the DDT debacle in the 70s and 80s, then hunters and ranchers taking target practice on hawks and eagles during the 90s and beyond, bald eagles are now facing poisoning from animal carcasses shot by hunters using lead shot resulting in lead poisoning. Hunters switching to copper shot would be a life saver. But there is now another threat to the US national symbol of freedom: carbofuran. A vicious neurotoxin poison used to kill predators ...carrion upon which eagles and other raptors feed. Carbofuran was banned in the US and worldwide but is now available on the black market in Mexico and other Latin American countries plus Asia. All good reason for the bald eagle or any bird of prey to loudly shout: Back Off!
