The Barred Owl was historically a bird of the eastern United States and Canada, but with human-driven environmental changes and their adaptability to urban environments, they have spread west over the last century so that they are now the most commonly seen - and heard - owl in western Washington. Their distinctive call, Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you all? is most often heard during mating season in late winter and early spring.

This shadowbox is made with legal-to-own feathers on archival cotton papers, and framed in a black lacquered wood frame with museum acrylic, ready to hang and display.
