I am a wildlife artist and conservation biologist whose work is grounded in more than three decades of scientific research, field experience, and close observation of animals in their natural environments. After a long academic career studying ecology, herpetology, and wildlife conservation, I returned with renewed focus to a lifelong interest in drawing.

I work primarily in graphite and colored pencil, creating detailed, realistic portraits of wildlife that emphasize both anatomical accuracy and the individual presence of the animal. My subjects range from reptiles and amphibians to birds and mammals, often reflecting species and places I have encountered through research and travel.

My goal is to bring scientific understanding and artistic expression together in a way that encourages people to look more closely at the natural world. I believe that careful observation can lead to appreciation, and that appreciation is an essential foundation for conservation.

Recent work has included new drawings of a marine iguana, breeding-plumage warblers, African wild dogs, and other wildlife subjects, along with continued development of pieces for exhibitions and conservation-focused opportunities. My work has been selected for juried exhibitions, including the Greeley Stampede Western Art Exhibition, and I continue to expand Tantilla Art as a platform for wildlife art, natural history, and conservation.

Through both art and science, I hope to contribute to a deeper understanding of wildlife and a stronger commitment to protecting wild species and wild places.
