Raven Dance
When I saw these ravens during a hike on Dog Mountain in British Columbia, the light was reflecting off their glossy feathers like oil on water. Beautiful blues, indigos and violets shone in the sun as they chatted and danced on the rocks. When most people look at ravens, they only see black. Slightly exaggerated here, I wanted to capture the multifaceted colours that I saw that day. Perhaps no bird on earth is steeped in so much lore, reverence, and infamy as the raven (Corvus corax). Considered the world's largest songbird, its glossy plumage, guttural vocals, famous intellect and abundant presence in symbolism and culture make it one of North America’s most intriguing species.
