In the early morning light, in South Africa, a lioness rested with her four cubs. Nearby, a dead tree offered opportunity for a higher view. Each of her cubs engaged in their own activity, resting, chewing wood, grooming. The young cub in the painting could not resist following his mother as she advanced toward the tree and seemed extremely curious about her climb. The moment revealed a lovely portrait of personality. While the lioness surveyed the area around them, the young cub investigated the tree. "Young and Curious" was juried into the Tennessee Watercolor Society's 2026 Biennial Exhibition in Clarksville, TN.
