The Secretary Bird (Sagittarius serpentarius) is a long-legged, large bird of prey endemic to Africa. Pressure on its habitat is causing the species to decline rapidly. Thie painting was created from an observation in Kruger National Park, South Africa, a very special sighting with a secretary bird hunting, using its wings to flush prey. Not too far away, its mate was walking along hunting, as well.
